Collection: Persian Carpets Loribaft
Lori rugs are a finer variant of the gabbeh traditionally knotted by the Lurs. The Lurs are a tribe in southwest Persia, also known as Loristan. Lori also Luri carpets are also known as Loribaft. The additional syllable "baft" means something like "tied". Translated, Loribaft means Luren knotting.
Lori rugs traditionally feature imaginative geometric designs that are colorfully designed. Modern lori today are mostly designed more simply with monochrome designs. However, there are still traditional, stylized and geometric motifs from the everyday life of the nomads, such as goats, camels, dogs, plants or people. The geometric pattern and the friendly colors create a pleasant, warm living atmosphere.
