Collection: Persian Carpets from Isfahan
Isfahan is one of the architectural pearls of the Islamic world.
The city's buildings are exceptionally bright, and the mosques and palaces continue to shape the patterns on the carpets to this day. They are the finest in the world and are woven using silk and cork wool.
Floral motifs are typical for the pattern of Isfahan carpets. Fourfold or longitudinally symmetrical designs with a medallion in the middle surrounded by arabesques, flowers or birds are widespread. The basic color is usually classic red, with bright blue and light beige also being typical. With mostly more than 15 shades, the Isfahan is extremely colourful. The borders are often green-blue and decorated with tendrils and palmettes.
