A beautiful hand knotted Persian silk carpet from the Ghom region in Iran.

Ghom is a relatively new provenance for Persian carpets.

The silk of the pile of this Ghom lets the colors of the pattern shine in different nuances depending on the incidence of light.

Silk is extracted by hand from the cocoons of the silk moth. Since the individual silk threads are extremely long, very thin yarns can be produced that are tear-resistant despite their low weight. The thin yarn can be used to tie smaller carpet knots and thus create finer patterns. For this reason, the finest carpets in the world are hand-knotted from pure silk. With this Qom even the underlay was made of pure silk.

The colors light blue, pink and shiny beige also dominate the overall impression.

The background of this Ghom is a very beautiful blue.

The border is in the colors pink/beige with full flowers and patterns.

The lush floral medallions of this Ghom are elegant and varied in design. The graceful vegetative symbols depicting blossoms, leaves and branches are artfully intertwined.
