Silk Ghom carpet

Ghom is a relatively new provenance for Persian carpets.

The silk of the pile of this Ghom lets the colors of the pattern shine in different nuances depending on the incidence of light.

Silk is extracted by hand from the cocoons of the silk moth. Since the individual silk threads are extremely long, very thin yarns are created that are nevertheless tear-resistant under low loads. This thin yarn can be used to create smaller carpet knots that create finer patterns. That is why the finest carpets in the world are hand-knotted from pure silk.

The background of this rug is black and beige. The border is black, beige and pink with a pattern of flowers and leaves.
